Shorewood is an attractive city on Lake Minnetonka, nestled between the lake communities of Tonka Bay, Excelsior, and Greenwood and within easy reach of all the shopping and dining they offer. Shorewood is also a fantastic outdoor recreation destination, with access to parks, trails, and beaches. The community stretches for six miles along the lakeshore and includes Enchanted, Shady, and Spray islands within its boundaries.

With some of the lakeshore’s most attractive homes and scenery, it’s easy to see why Shorewood is so revered. Residents enjoy all the lake-based recreation for which the Lake Minnetonka region is known and can take a short drive to the plentiful shopping, dining, and entertainment of other Lake Minnetonka communities.

Shorewood has a small commercial area with a handful of fantastic shopping and dining choices located on the bend of Manitou Road and Smithtown Road. Joey Nova’s is a lively spot for authentic New York-style pizza pies and grilled subs. Hazellewood Grill and Tap Room is open breakfast through dinner with a wide-ranging selection of food and drink. Start your day with a hearty omelet, stop by for a gourmet lunchtime sandwich, enjoy happy hour cocktails and appetizers in the early evening, or choose from an internationally influenced menu of diverse entrees for dinner. Try the divine handcrafted chocolates and other sweet treats at Truffle Hill where specialties include chocolate truffles, brittle, toffee, and popcorn. On the lakeshore, Howards Point Marina offers year-round boat storage and rentals of pontoons and fishing boats.
Things to Do
Shorewood’s signature annual event is January’s Arctic Fever. Festivities begin with Art Via Vino on Thursday night, which invites guests to create their own artworks with expert guidance while enjoying a glass of wine. On Friday, there are ice carving demonstrations, a candlelight ice tour, and free pizza from Joey Nova’s. Saturday has sleigh and dog sled rides, a bonfire, ice games, and kite-making workshops. Everything wraps up on Sunday with the kid-friendly Super Hero’s Brunch. Other events in Shorewood include June’s Dog Days with pet prizes, dog yoga, and other canine-friendly activities. Shorewood’s Family Oktoberfest features beer and wine tastings, kids crafts activities, music, and authentic German food. The Lake Minnetonka LRT Regional Trail runs through Shorewood along the path of an old 19th-century railroad. This scenic walking and biking trail runs for a total of 15 miles, connecting Shorewood with the other lakeside communities of Deephaven, Excelsior, Greenwood, Minnetonka, and Victoria. At its easternmost point, the trail reaches the popular camping grounds of Carver Park Reserve.
