Minnetonka is a bustling city with a suburban character. The city shares its name with Lake Minnetonka and sits at the lake’s eastern edge. Minnetonka is a developed city with many employment opportunities. The United States’ largest privately held company, international food conglomerate Cargill, is headquartered in the city, and Minnetonka is also home to United Health Group, the largest publicly owned company in Minnesota. Homes in Minnetonka are close to an abundance of outdoor recreation opportunities on the waters of Lake Minnetonka, as well as lots of shopping and dining, including the many upscale stores and restaurants of the Ridgedale Center. The Twin Cities are just a 20-minutes drive to Minnetonka’s east.

Dining, Entertainment & Shopping
Minnetonka is one of the Lake Minnetonka area’s most developed communities and offers some of the region’s best shopping and dining. Spasso is a standout, pairing exquisite Italian cooking with a wine list that encompasses around 100 varietals all sold at retail price. This upscale dining spot even offers free wine corkage and is located right next door to The Wine Shop where you can choose from a huge variety of wines at all price points to enjoy with dinner or at home. Ike’s serves gourmet burgers, mouth-watering steaks, and seafood in a casual tavern-style setting. This Diner’s Choice Award-winning restaurant also boasts a great wine list and happy hour cocktails. Snuffy’s Malt Shop is another award-winning choice for burgers along with other comfort-food eats, and delicious sundaes and milkshakes. Many more shops and restaurants can be found at the Ridgedale Center. Retailers at Ridgedale include JCPenney, Macy’s, and Nordstrom department stores, along with around 120 other restaurants and retailers. The Ridgedale Center’s wide-ranging dining options include steak and seafood dishes at Redstone American Grill and pan-Pacific seafood eats at Kona Grill. Other stores include Nordstrom, Apple, Banana Republic, Coach, Disney Store, GAP, H&M, Old Navy, and Sephora.
Things to Do
Minnetonka is a lively community with family-friendly local events throughout the year. The annual Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving morning is organized by Minnetonka High School. Participants start at the school and run 5K through the city’s streets. June’s Minnetonka Summer Festival starts with a tot trot fun run and has a variety of activities throughout the day aimed at all ages. The festival ends with an evening of live music performances and fireworks at Civic Center Park. Glen Lake Golf Course in Minnetonka is a nine-hole public course with sand and grass bunkers, water hazards, and challenging changes in elevation. The golf course also has a practice center and offers expert tuition for all ages and ability levels.
