Deephaven’s Cottagewood General Store has been a cornerstone of the community since 1895. This delightfully old-fashioned store opens seasonally between May and October. Cottagewood’s eclectic offerings include baked goods, fresh-roasted coffee, build-your-own sandwiches, weekly salad specials, 10” and 12” Heggies pizzas, Sebastian Joe’s ice cream, value meals for kids, and a diverse array of snacks, smoothies, slushies, soft drinks, and juices. Cottagewood also sells Lake Minnetonka-themed gifts and clothing. Lake Minnetonka Sailing School offers classes and expert instruction for all ages and ability levels. From summer camps for kids to race teams for advanced adult sailors, the sailing school has programs to help everyone make the most of Lake Minnetonka’s awesome waterfront setting. Deephaven also boasts six public beaches for swimming during the summer months and many scenic viewpoints overlooking the community’s three deep-cut lake bays. Deephaven also offers its residents a wealth of public parks with fantastic year-round amenities. Thorpe Park is a standout, with amenities including a pond, basketball court, two ball fields and tennis courts, flower gardens, and three playgrounds. During the winter, enjoy Thorpe Park’s ice skating rink and snow sliding hill, and head inside the warming-house whenever the cold gets to be too much for you.
Along with being a great place to pick up a wide range of delicious snacks, Cottagewood General Store hosts some of Deephaven’s most popular events. Cottagewood’s July 4th Celebration & Kids’ Parade has been an annual highlight since the 1960s, and it features floats and kids riding decorated bikes. Other attractions include a carnival with many different games and activities. Friday Night Grill Nights are a regular attraction at Cottagewood. Every Grill Night has plenty of tasty barbequed food on offer. There are also different themes each week, such as live music nights and family-friendly game nights.
